Google And Facbook Launched URL-Shortening Service

The Search Engine Giant Google launched it’s new URL-Shortening Service on Monday and it’s called Google URL Shortener – Goo.gl.
Google URL Shortener at goo.gl is a service that takes long URLs and squeezes them into fewer characters to make a link that is easier to share, tweet, or email to friends. The core goals of this service are:
- Stability: Google’s scalable, multi-datacenter infrastructure provides great uptime and a reliable service to our users.
- Security: Protecting users from malware and phishing pages.
- Speed: Fast resolution of short URLs
Unlike Google, Facebook launched it’s URL-shortening service calmly. Now the market just got crowded with Google and Facebook.
If you’re not familiar with them, URL shorteners basically squeeze a long URL into fewer characters to make it easier to share with others. With character limits in tweets, status updates and other modes of short form publishing, a shorter URL leaves more room to say what’s on your mind and that’s why people use them. People share a lot of links online.
There are already many popular names in the market who are providing URL-shortening service like Bit.ly
Bit.ly has already earned a good name in the market. On Monday itself Bit.ly has launched a service called Bit.ly Pro. The Pro service provides custom short URLs powered by bit.ly and they are providing this service to good companies including AOL, Associated Content, Bing, Clicker, The Daily Telegraph, foursquare, GDGT, Hot Potato, The Huffington Post, IGN, kickstarter, Meebo, MSN, /Message (Stowe Boyd), MTV Networks, The New York Times, OMGPOP, oneforty.com, The Onion, slideshare, someecards, TechCrunch, The Wall Street Journal Digital Network — which includes WSJ.com and MarketWatch.com and more…
Surely it’s going to be a must see competition!
As we had a word with few Market Research Analyst’s and they are sure that Google URL Shortener service is going to win because it’s Google who can provide Stability, Security, Speed.
Google Crushed Twitterfeed
As we know Tweetfeed is really an interesting service, which is liked and loved by many bloggers and the reason is, it makes our life much eaiser. It automatically posts RSS feed(s) into Twitter account.
Lets suppose you publish a post and the moment you publish it, Tweetfeed automatically posts a tweet into your Twitter account with a title and a link of your post.
Google Feedburner and Google Toolbar are already enhanced and their new version is released so that users get the benefit of URL-shortening service.

When you login to your Feedburner, you will find a new feature named Socialize under “Publicize” Tab. Through this feature you can post your blog RSS Feeds to your Twitter automatically without using a third party service.
Though right now there is only Twitter, where Feedburner is posting URL’s yet I’m sure, soon Google is going to add many other sites like Facebook etc… where automatic positing will be done. Currently, Google URL Shortener is only available from the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner.
I think many users are going to use this feature because It helps us to manage our scattered accounts at one place.
